Tope Temokun Chambers Launches Scholarship for Law Students in Ondo State

Human Rights lawyer and the Managing Director of Tope Temokun Chambers, Temokun Tope, has unveiled Students Support Scheme to provide financial sponsorship to selected indigent law school aspirants in Nigeria.

A statement by Mr Temokun said the scheme is educational support whereby his chambers shall pay full tuition fees annually for two indigent students, one of whom must be from Ikale, which comprises two local governments of Okitipupa and Irele and the second beneficiary could be from any local government in Ondo state.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the scheme was unveiled by the lawyer at Tope Temokun Chambers in Akure, Ondo State, during the 2022 End of the Year Get-Together on Tuesday.

The event started with a lecture “Who is a good lawyer?”, delivered by Barrister Oju Kekemeke in which he postulated that a brilliant lawyer without character cannot be called a good lawyer. He emphasised integrity and observance of ethical conduct for lawyers.

The chambers also rewarded excellent service with monetary prizes.

This year 2022 most hardworking staff award went to the Akure office Secretary, Miss Onyiye Onyekachi Gift, with a cash reward of One Hundred Thousand Naira, while the overall best lawyer award went to Fidelis Dennis, with a monetary reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only and additional Five Hundred Thousand Naira was given to him as scholarship for masters in law in 2023. He went home with a cheque of One Million Naira altogether.

Copies of the chambers’ founder’s human rights handbook, “Rights of Nigerians in Civil Rule and the Police” were also distributed freely for those in attendance, Starnews Nigeria can report.
